Solenoid valves are a combination of direct and servo controlled valves. The armature is mechanically connected to the diaphragm on which there is a discharge nozzle. At low pressure, the solenoid valve works like a direct acting valve. Full opening and full flow are not possible at low pressures. At higher pressures, the valve operates like a servo-controlled valve and full opening allows full flow. Average switching times 50 ÷ 500 ms.
