Part no. CABLE M11

11mm Marlow Pro Drive anti-torsion line. This rope is sold by the meter.
The Anti torsion cable is the link between the 2 elements of a furler: the swivel and the drum.
In a perfect world, the Anti torsion cable must transmit the winding forces from the bottom to the top (1 turn of the drum = 1 turn of swivel) These cables are usually supplied with the sail (in the sail / luff for the most part or outdoors for asymmetric spinnakers The range of anti-torsion ropes and cables is very wide. Karver have chosen to offer the Marlow Pro Drive Anti torsion rope as standard for the smallest furlers (KSF1 to KSF5) but we work with all brands. Beyond 5T and / or 20 meters in length, Karver recommend Anti-torsion cables (Future Fibers, Navtec, SoftRig, Armare,..)

Karver Tips

  • The anti-torsion line is a perfect solution for downwind sails and / or pleasure sailing uses and more particularly the winding of asymmetric spinnakers. For close range sails or racing uses, you must use anti torsion cables which have better quality anti torsion properties and higher durability. The most famous brands are (Future Fibers, Navtec, Soft Rig, Armare, …). This is not Karver's main business, but they can also provide you with these cables.
  • An anti-torsion line has some elasticity. This data is provided by each rope manufacturer. The elasticity of the Marlow Pro Drive is 1.6% (1.6 meters per 100 meters or approximately 25 cm for 15 meters) when subjected to its medium workload. Always take this data into account when calculating the length so as not to find yourself in a situation where you will no longer be able to apply tension (swivel in stop in the mast).
  • Most anti-torsion lines are impossible to splice. The most common ways to install thimbles on these ropes are: end-to-end sewing, the use of clamps (Colligo for example), the use of our Karver KRE clamps, the crimping of an aluminum ferrule with a substantial press.
  • If your budget allows it, always use the largest rope that the thimble can accept. It is a guarantee of durability and satisfaction in use.
