Safety equipment a must on exotic vacations

Australia’s third-largest island, Kangaroo Island, is known as one of South Australia’s most popular tourist attractions. A popular adventure destination, the island attracts over 140,000 visitors each year.

When traveling to destinations like Kangaroo Island, adventure safety is key. These exotic locations offer adventures such as hiking, swimming, boating, and even guided tours that give tourists an up close view of the area’s native animals. For tourists wishing to walk on the wild side, having the right adventure safety equipment will ensure an safe and enjoyable experience.

However, Kangaroo Island is also known for it’s dangerous coastline where numerous ships have been wrecked. The largest was the Portland Maru, which sank at Cape Torrens on March 20 1935. The incident with the greatest number of deaths was the wreck of the Loch Sloy on April 24 1899 at Maurpetius Bay, when 31 persons were drowned, and one initial survivor subsequently died. Another 28 people drowned at West Bay in September 1905, when the Loch Vennachar was wrecked. Today, many adventure seekers are equipped with Uniden Marine Radios, radios build for marine frequencies, and to operate in the marine environment. Unfortunately, these shipwrecks might’ve had more survivors if today’s adventure safety equipment had been available.
